Best of Both Worlds

january 9, 2004

The developers of Camino for Mac OS X have really made big strides. I just downloaded the nightly build to try out on my iBook and the thing works really well. It is truly the best of both words: Cocoa and Gecko. When I tried out Camino a while back with Panther it did not work since I was just using the milestone -- the scroll bar was broke from what I remembered (a compatibilty problem). Anyways, now that I have the 01-08-2003 nightly build installed it is pretty darned cool. The browsing power of the Gecko engine (which powers Mozilla and Firebird plus the cool widgets from being a Cocoa application (so now it doesn't look like a Unix port, but like a true Mac OS X application). Very nice indeed.
